Yes! Halfway through first grade, my parents enrolled me in virtual school, as brick-and-mortar school was a safety risk for my severe nut allergy. Early in my childhood I learned how to navigate the digital space, virtual meetings and type at an efficient speed. At eight years old I started typing the stories on the computer, leading to my digital collection.
Absolutely not! Creativity and art is a journey not bound by perfection. My writing may have misspelled words, grammatical errors, incorrect formatting and messy handwriting, but they are a part of my writing journey. My writing timeline is a testament of how my talent sprouted from young and how it continues to grow.
Great question! I am an only child who grew up having fewer friends than most. As a kid, I would watch TV shows and read books about amazing adventures. I started wondering about myself embarking on incredible adventures with friends in tow. Soon enough, my love of writing was born. Writing allows me to create characters I want to be friends with and take adventures outside of my current reality. From the early days of my writing journey, I have written in dialogue, mainly because I wrote characters I wanted to have conversations with.
At first, writing was my outlet to explore new worlds from afar. Now I write, not for my own comfort, but to create conversations and impact my readers. I truly understand how powerful words can be and why literacy is the unsung hero of the world. I am inspired by the authors before me to write books with powerful messages and let my writing become a part of conversations. Each of my children’s books includes a Read, Recognize and Respond section filled with questions to prompt discussions. In my teen self-help book, 13 THINGS I Learned by 13, I not only encourage readers to ponder, but also included QR codes for readers to scan, which will lead them to short videos of me explaining my thoughts about each chapter. Humans are blessed with the incredible gift of words, and I use my words to impact people.
Wonder. Always allow your imagination to wander and never loose your sense of whimsy in life.

Written when Officially Halee was eleven years old, Mysteries of Pine Grove follows Maggie Lark, a fellow allergy kid who heads off to summer camp for the first time. Inspired by the Louisiana bayous, Mysteries of Pine Grove is centered around a mystery happening at the summer camp.
